Software as a Craft dev blog

Full List of Posts

This is my swaac (Software as a Craft) web site posts, converted into Emacs Org Mode which is another sort of mark-down type writing experience, only richer than straight Markdown. Org mode includes a richer environment for editing code snippets, which is part-and-parcel of this particular web site. Org mode is also a great way to organize thoughts and concepts. The major inhibiting factor has been how to publish the results. I’m just stuffing these onto github, which handles org formatting at least as well as it does Markdown. This feels like the least restrictive way for me to write my devblog.

The posts are in the posts directory. The other directories are only temporary in case I need to do some editing and have the original around.

If you’re looking for the Atom feed, it is here.

If you’re looking for the “learning” entry it is here (./posts/learning.org)

Each directory also has an index.org file in it listing the posts for that directory.

Publishing

I’ve recently set up a publishing scheme for this blog, so maybe it’s not just available as a github repo.

Utilizing org-mode’s vast publishing capability, I can put these org files out as a whole web site. Ultimately, I’ll build a rake command for it so it can be easily built and published.

For now, in emacs, open the ~publish-setup.el~, evaluate the buffer, and then execute org-publish, selecting website as the object to be published. It’s kinda cool. The entire directory is published in $HOME/Sites/swaac-pub/ (hardcoded for now).

Issues, Questions, Comments

Please feel free to file an issue on the repo if you

  • find any problems, such as typos, broken links, weird formatting, and so on
  • if you have questions about the content, or about something related to the content
  • if you have any comments, I’d love to hear them
  • if you have requests for posts, I won’t promise to write them, but I might, so fire away
  • if you want to make a pull request, I promise to at least look at it and give you feedback
